Welcome to the Think Pink Ball website 2008

We are delighted to announce that the THINK PINK BALL 2008 in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer will be held on Friday 17th October 2008 at Norwich City Football Club

Our special guest - Nobel Prize Winner Prof. Sir Martin Evans:

We are delighted to announce that Professor Sir Martin Evans, winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize for Medicine, and his wife will be guests of honour.

Sir Martin and his wife will be guests of honour at this year’s Think Pink Ball which will take place at Norwich City Football Club on Friday 17th October 2008. Sir Martin has been described as the father of stem cell research and named as one of ten Britons who have shaped our world. The genetic techniques he has developed with his two fellow Nobel Laureates are already bringing significant benefits in the fight against major diseases, including breast cancer. In addition to his work, Sir Martin has personal knowledge of living with breast cancer as his wife contracted the disease in 1999. He is a Trustee of the UK’s leading breast cancer research charity, Breakthrough, for which this year’s Think Pink Ball will be raising funds.

Stephen Summerhayes, Managing Director of Northwood Norwich said: “Northwood is proud to be headline sponsor for this year’s Think Pink Ball and to be associated with such an important fund raising drive. We are sure that the team will organise another excellent event and will continue to secure the support of businesses and individuals to help them achieve their goal for Breakthrough this year.

  • “It is a pleasure to back the work of the Think Pink team in Norwich and its contribution to the fight against breast cancer. While research is bringing us ever closer to finding solutions to serious diseases like breast cancer, the contribution of fundraisers like this team is crucial. We continue to need their dedication and energy to keep the issue of breast cancer high on the agenda, to help raise money to enable research to continue and to ensure that care and support for people who suffer from the disease reaches them when and where they most need it. Their work, and the support it achieves, makes a real contribution and I am sure this year’s Think Pink Ball will be another success.”
